Baby hungry?

No, no, sorry, we aren't thinking about having a baby anytime soon. But, after spending so much time with little Jersey (Rob and Jen's little girl) we are starting to see more and more of the joy that children bring into lives. I just looked at my friend Laura blog, and her little Ella seems like she is ALWAYS smiling! Jersey makes Ryan and I laugh everything we are around her, and it is just so sweet to listen to Rob and Jen putting Jersey to bed, reading her a bedtime story. Ryan and I came home from their house last night wishing we could take Jersey with us! So, to cure us of our temporary (VERY TEMPORARY) baby hunger, we sat down and made a list of our baby names. Once we got to the point where laughing at ideas like Max Power McMurdie and El Dot McMurdie Dot Com (had to be there), we knew we were definitely not ready to have kids yet!

Don't get me wrong... I'm not a baby hater! I would love children SOME DAY, and I would love for that day to be now, but we just aren't financially ready! I want to be able to support my children on my own without help from anyone, and we're just not to that point right now. But man, babies are funny!

Just for fun, I morphed pictures of Ry and I online, and this is what our baby will supposedly look like:

hahaha so... ya.
And I can't decide on a blog background! This is my third one... I think I'll stick with this for a while. I hate stripes, polka dots (why are they called polka dots?), and crazy tacky floral stuff. Ughhh, I don't know. This is staying though, I promise. I'm so indecisive...

Blog Makeover

I figured I've had this purple background since the creation of my blog, so I put the effort into making a new header (you like??) and finding a new background, which has now taken me (...looking at the time) 45 minutes!

Tonight for dinner, I made butternut squash soup... so good and so EASY! Just sautee cubed butternut squash, carrots and onions, then add broth (the recipe called for chicken broth, but I used veggie broth), simmer, add milk and put in a blender! YUMMMM! Oh, and it's only 297 calories per serving. Yep, you read it right! Oh, and p.s. I updated my recipe blog... this is the best carrot cake you will ever eat! And it's SO easy! Let me know if you want me to post the butternut squash soup recipe, or my lasagna recipe from last post.
Friday night, Ryan and I went out to dinner with Rob, Jen, Buddy, Lindsey, and of course, little J-Pants. It was such a wonderful night, oh my gosh, I love my friends! Buddy is definately one of a kind, but the best guy friend a girl could ask for :) And his girl, Lindsey, is the biggest sweetheart in the WORLD! She studied abroad in Italy for a semester (SOOOOO jealous!) and is GORGEOUS! I'm so glad she came with :) Rob and Jen are classic best friends.. Rob is just overall the nicest guy ever, and a major smarty pants! Jen, what can I say about Jen... she's taught me so much about friendship. With Bev so far away (all the way across the country!), it's nice to know I have a best friend in Utah. Jen has taught me how to change a diaper, give a bath, enjoy a pedicure, put a baby into pajamas, and so much more! Oh, and I didn't know what a diaper geenie (spelling?) was until a few weeks ago! Jen is pretty darn close to perfect when it comes to being a friend... it will break my heart when she moves away. Oh, AND for my birthday, our friends paid for our dinner! WHOA!!! I wanted to hug them all a million times... such sweethearts!

Well, Vegas reservations have officially been made! May 21-23, Me, Ry, Rob, Jen (maybe Jersey), Jed, Jess, Buddy, and maybe Lindsey are all headed down to Vegas for one last weekend with the crew. It will be fun, but it will be sad!!! These guys are our family out here! From left to right: Jed, Jess, Sharry (ignore her...), Buddy, Me, Ry, Jen (with Jersey in her belly), and Rob

We <3 Chuck!

Ryan and I are totally addicted to a new show... Chuck! Thanks to Rob and Jen (and Jersey, she can't be left out) who lent us season 1, we have spent this long weekend staying up till 3 a.m. watching episode after episode of Chuck, which in turn led to us sleeping in till 10 each morning! Man, waking up at 7 tomorrow morning sure will be a slap in the face! There's just this stupid Bryce character that keeps showing up and inturrupts the romance that still hasn't happened yet, but I'm waiting! I hope he goes away, but he probably won't and then Chuck and Sarah won't ever get together! AHHHHHHHHHH! I'm stressing.
Well, I am officially 23 now. And, to celebrate, I finally made a lasagna. I've tried before, but for some mysterious reason, they've always turned out watery. WHY?! Who knows where the water comes from. But, it was so yummy and we got to have Rob and Jen (and Jersey, who loved the rolls and our volleyball and our ipods and my measuring spoons and whipped cream when you spray it on her hand, pretty much everything but the lasagna) got to share it with us! I tell Ryan all the time, there are two things that I keep trying over and over again to make that I just can't get... lasagna and chocolate chip cookies. Now, I've got the lasagna down! I guess all that's left to do is work on chocolate chip cookies. And other things I'm sure will come up that I can't master, but chocolate chip cookies seem so elementary! HOW COME I CAN'T MAKE THEM! They are always too crunchy, or too puffy, or taste like baking soda, or are uncooked in the middle... I can't win, people.

About 22 weeks until the cruise!

And oh, it looks like our group of friends are all going to vegas in May! Yayy!

Is it twenty ten? Or two thousand ten?

The last time I blogged was after Thanksgiving... oh boy! Well, we went home for Christmas for a little more than 2 weeks. It's strange to think that, just a week ago, I was at home with family and in-laws. And here we are now, back in Utah. The holidays were wonderful, filled with family, friends, and laughs. Luckily, my gramma (who had the swine flu starting on Thanksgiving!) was all better by Christmas!

Oh, and can I just brag for a second? I got a 4.0 this past semester! WOOHOO!
Speaking of school, both Ryan and I are back in classes and feel this semester is going to be intense. Ryan already had to drop one of his classes because the work load is too much! So far, my teachers look great, except for one. She docks you points if you look at her funny or question anything she says because she is "insecure and easily feels attacked". Holy crap, grow a pair! I'm nervous for that class... I guess I'll just keep my eyes down and mouth closed until April.

To get through this semester, we just have to look forward to the CRUISE in June/July with our families! ...be jealous ;)

We hope all of you had a fabulous holiday season!
