oh. my. gosh.

So it's been a really long time since I've gotten on here and blogged. Here is what has happened since the last time you heard from me:

1. Long story short, the creepy old Mexican man who lived above us was harassing us and threatened to kill us. Needless to say, we left that night in a hurry and didn't return to our apartment without a police officer. Why they only questioned the guy, I do not know. But good news, he is being evicted along with his chain smoker girlfriend.

2. We had nowhere to live for about 2 weeks so we spent a few days in Connecticut and then the rest we stayed with Bev and the Herb family (Bev's fiance, his mom, and his brothers). Bev let us sleep in her bed, while she shared a bed with her future mother-in-law, bless her heart.

3. We moved into a new apartment. Goodbye beautiful wooden 1 bedroom apartment with psycho man upstairs, hello lovely ocean-front 2 bedroom apartment with no psycho man upstairs!

4. Track ended :( But Lauren, the other assistant coach, and I are besties, so it's all good.

5. Maddie and I threw Bev's shower and it was a success! It got everyone, especially Bev, wicked pumped for the wedding! (It's on July 16th, BTW).

6.Our apartment is FINALLY all moved in! Right now it's a mess so I will take pictures soon and post them!

7. Oh, and I got an iPhone, so it's become a hassle to physically turn on my computer and do anything I can't do on my phone. It's really bad, actually.

8. Justin and Bailey came up this weekend to visit! Justin took us all out to do some really fun things.. Friday night we went to the Sox game, and Saturday we went on a whale watch! Here's pictures! I hope you can figure out for yourselves which is a picture of which:

Okay, so I didn't get any pictures of whales because I was sick. But that's Boston as we were leaving the harbor! I love my new home :)

9. I had no idea I left my blog with an ugly blue background. Ugh.. I'm going to quickly try to make this blog look nice!

I'm throwing a bridal shower for Bev with her sister, and I have no idea what to do for decorations. Do I start with a theme and then think about the decoratiosn? I need help with a theme! Any ideas? Here's a little bit about the bride: Very girlie and feminine, teacher, enjoys camping and outdoorsy things, wedding theme is nautical, wedding colors are navy and white. Oh, and she doesn't read my blog, so I'm not worried about her seeing this. Ughhhhh. Help?

the best

I have the best husband in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD! Last Friday, I had a bad day and spent every minute of it texting Ryan, venting and complaining to him about this and that. I came home to see that Ryan had stopped at Babycakes, the BEST cupcake bakery ever, and got cupcakes to make me feel better! That definitely turned my day around :)

And how can anyone not be happy when they get to see this in the morning?

I was trying to change the sheets Sunday morning, and Ryan refused to give the bed up! He even conquered my cloud pillow I can't sleep without that he secretly wishes he had.

Isn't he just the sweetest? :)

being explorers

Last weekend, Ry and I drove to Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA to explore a little. Here's a map of where it is, for those of you who care..

We live at point A and I put a red rectangle around the place we went. It was beautiful! Maybe it's because I lived in Utah for a while, or I'm just excited to be back in New England again, but I was seriously so psyched to find such a beautiful beach so close to us! People were out surfing, families were walking their dogs on the beach, and the sound of the waves crashing made me feel right at home. We stopped at a lot of beaches along the way, but my favorite was Nantasket Beach!Then as we were leaving the beach, we were driving along the shore and saw this wicked awesome island called Spinnaker Island with a skinny long bridge connecting to it. The island had townhouses all over it! SO CUTE! Here's a picture while we were on the island looking off:

It's a really beautiful place :) Just thought I'd share with y'all (...that's for you, Jess!)

I just got off the phone with Linda, a close childhood friend, after talking on the phone from 9-midnight. THREE HOURS! I'm a phone person when I'm in the mood, but this was a lot. I got into bed, closed my eyes, and couldn't think about anything but her and things we talked about.

So here I am. It's 12:57. I'm sitting in bed next to Ryan who is tossing and turning because the sound of me typing is keeping him up. I can only facebook stalk for so long, so I decided to check my blog. I'm grateful I have this to look at because it's always nice to look on my sidebar and see who updated their blog and read what's going on.

It's fun to read crazy stories of Ryan's cousin Stacy's kids,
and read how Jersey is potty trained going to doggie parties, and before I know it Jen will be posting about how Jersey is getting ready to take her driver's test and can't decide between the pink or blue prom dress (seriously, this girl is growing up so fast!)
and I keep checking to see if Jess posted pictures of her new house yet (HELLO JESSICA LARSEN YES YOU please do that asap k thanks), and her cute dog, and pictures of her friends in Dallas that when I see her and Jed hanging out with other people I get jealous of them because I wish "Parks" and I were there,
and Mandy's poems and pictures that are so beautiful it makes me wish I lived in a movie,
and Katie's life in Arizona that I swear we're living the SAME life when I see her post pictures of her tiny bathroom counter (exactly like mine) and her leaning tower of bedroom throw pillows (exactly like mine), and then I see her perfect eyebrows (I swear she has perfect eyebrows and I hate her for it) and then I'm reminded we're living different lives because my eyebrows are thin and blond and unfortunate,
and I read what's happening in the mind of Bailey McMurdie because it is always insightful (confession: I really don't know what that word means), but I'm sure whatever it means, her posts are always insightful. Wait, I think I know what insightful means now... I swear I'm just typing as I'm thinking right now,
and what the crap kind of trouble baby Kamosi is getting himself into with that crazy head of hair,

and all the other things I read on everyone's blogs. I would so much rather stalk blogger than facebook because I hate looking at my facebook feed and seeing that someone felt uncomfortable watching "The Situation" roast Donald Trump (watch it, it's rough), or that someone I went to high school with and haven't talked to in 8 years is having a bad day. Honestly, I just don't care about that kind of stuff.

So thank you to all of you who post. And I apologize if things didn't make sense in what I said, because it's now 1:21 a.m. and I'm tired and Ryan is snoring so I think I'm going to try to quietly put my laptop on the bedroom floor and not wake him up.

So Ryan is letting me redo our bedroom as long as I follow a budget of $200. Well, I went over the budget by like $30, but seriously you will be so proud of me when you see what I did with $230! All I need are lamps, one for each side of the bed. I'm thinking something tall and thin, like this:

I am getting very anxious to get everything into the bedroom and set up. My mother sewed the drapes and drape toppers (thanks mommy I LOVE YOU!), and I have to also get one of my photos developed to put above our bed. I'm thinking this that I took of the beach in Massachusetts:

...or maybe this one I took of a flower: I don't know. What do you think? Which one would look better above a bed? Oh, and my bedding is yellow and white. I'll post before and after pictures once everything is up! Probably in a few weeks it will be all set up.

These days, it is unfortunate that almost everyone knows of someone who currently has cancer, has beaten cancer, or has lost their life to cancer.

In 2010, the United States population was about 308,745,538.

In 2010, cancer hit 1,529,560 people.

About 1 out of every 200 people were diagnosed with cancer last year.

Of those, 569, 490 lost their lives.

That turns out to be about 1 out of every 3 people with cancer died last year.

This means that, just last year, 1 out of every 500 people died because of cancer.

Those are all sad facts though. Here is a much happier one:

Since Relay for Life began in 1985, the event has so far raised more than 3.5 billion dollars.

I hope you realize how amazing this is, that we live in a country where average American people would donate over 3.5 billion of their hard-earned money over the past 25 years to stop this terrible disease.

Take a second to think of someone whose life has been changed because of cancer. In honor/memory of that person, please make a donation for them. It's the least we can do.
